FAQ

  • What should I bring to my fitting?
Some of things we would find useful are your dress, shoes, any support underwear if you are planning to wear it and any underskirts you plan to wear. Dont worry if you dont have an underskirt already, we have a fantiastic range of underskirts and accessories you can purchase. You are welcome to bring along your accessories too if you want to try your whole outfit on in our gorgeous boutique. If you have paid for storage as a Bridal Sewing Rooms or a Wedding Wardrobe customer, we will collect your dress from our storage unit ready for your fitting.
  • How much will my bridal alterations be?
This will depend on what work we are doing to your dress/dresses, the fabric and structure of your dress and the amount of time we will need to work on the alterations plus any materials if we are making items. Each piece of work will be explained to you and a price given at your first fitting with us. As a guide we recommend keeping aside £100-500 for your wedding dress and £80-150 for each bridesmaids dress.
  • Can I bring guests to my fitting?
Yes you are welcome to bring up to 2 guests along to your fittings. We ask you to limit the number of people so that we are able to concentrate on making sure your dress is going to fit perfectly.
  • How many fittings will I need?
Normally you will visit us 2-3 times, depending on how complex the work we are doing on your dress is.
  • How long is my fitting appointment?
We allow a 30 minute private appointment for each wedding dress fitting and Mother of the Bride/Groom fitting. For bridesmaids groups depending on numbers we allow 30-60 minutes.
  • When will my fittings be?
Your first fitting will be 8-10 weeks before the wedding date. Depending on the complexity of the work, we will schedule you in for another fitting at 4 and 2 weeks before the wedding. We do however recommend booking your fittings in advance to make sure you book your slot as we get very full during peak times such as the summer.
  • When should I bring my wedding dress for alterations?
Your first fitting should be scheduled for 10-12 weeks before your wedding. This will give us enough time to complete the work on your dress, but be near enough to the wedding so your weight should not change dramatically. Depending on the complexity of the work, we will schedule you in for another fitting at 4 and 2 weeks before the wedding. Please note if additional alterations are required due to weight gain or loss just before the wedding you may incur additional charges for work needed.
  • Can I book ahead for alterations?
Yes you can! we do ask for a small deposit of £25 if you are booking 6 months or more in advance, these are deducted from your alterations bill.
Feel free to get in touch if you have any other questions about your wedding dress alterations or anything else:
